Door County is undeniably one of the most beautiful destinations in the country. The onset of spring just
intensifies that beauty, embroidering it with fresh new growth everywhere we look. There is still a chill
in the air most days, but we’re enjoying more and more days of warm sunshine. Birds are chirping and
bulbs are peeking through the soil, and in Door County there’s an air of anticipation as the 2019 season
quickly approaches!

We’re gearing up here at the Lodge, and when you arrive for your stay there will be a few new faces to
welcome you and assure your total comfort and enjoyment. You’ll be happy to see Pat, I know; she’s an
integral element in the operation of the Lodge. New to the front desk position will be Joe – we refer to
him as “Joe II,” since he’s not the same Joe as last year! – and Katelyn. They will be wonderful additions
to our staff. Julia will be back after wintering in Texas, and we can’t wait to see her.

Those of you who stayed with us after our J-1 Visa students went home last September will remember
Amber, housekeeper extraordinaire. She’ll be back full-time, ensuring spotlessness in your room. She’ll
be joined by J-1 Visa students Ryan and Shamar from Jamaica, both of whom helped out last year, as
well as Jehad and Yazan from Jordan, new to us and arriving late in June. Our J-1 Visa students are
outstanding young people, and without them we could not do our job. Please introduce yourselves to
them when you see them – they’ll be wearing bright red shirts with our logo! – and get to know them.
They are in this country to learn about our culture and to experience all we have to offer. We love them all.
