July already!

So here we are, opening day behind us, Memorial Day weekend behind us, July 4th behind us, and voilà, the season is in full swing! We’re back in the rhythm of welcoming guests and saying goodbye as they check out. It is so satisfying welcoming return guests that just can’t get enough of this place. Equally satisfying is, when checking out, guests immediately make their reservations for future visits! What makes them want to be here? What makes The Liberty Lodge so special?

First, it’s our staff. Every front desk employee has completed the Door County Certified Tourism Ambassador course, which results in a great depth of knowledge about all things Door County. And if we don’t know the answer to your question we know where to find it! In addition to being knowledgeable our staff is enthusiastic, kind, helpful, fun, and happy to be here. And it shows! Have you patronized establishments with seemingly angry, rude employees? I always want to ask them why they work there; obviously it’s not because they like it! Feel free to ask our staff why they work here – I believe they will all say it’s because they love The Liberty Lodge! We have the most beautiful venue and the best guests anywhere.

Second, it’s our accommodations. Every room, from the most expensive to the least, is lovely and inviting. Beds are comfortable, linens are deluxe, amenities are top shelf and plentiful. The hardwood floors shine and the bathrooms sparkle. Historic doesn’t have to mean worn and stale!
Third, it’s our breakfast. I believe we offer the best continental breakfast around, and no one goes away hungry – unless they choose to! We have pastries, fresh bakery from Seaquist Orchard Market, fresh fruit and juices, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, and prepared meat-and-cheese plates with Nueske’s choice meats. Oh, and then there’s the fantastic Isely’s coffee from the Ephraim Coffee Lab. Mmmmmm, none better.
Fourth, it’s our housekeepers. I get to hire J-1 Visa students from all over the world to come work and live in Sister Bay during their college summer break. They are so happy to be here, and it’s reflected in their attitudes as they greet guests while they go about their job. And what a job they do! We repeatedly hear how clean everything is – and what better compliment for a lodge manager to hear? They are a wonderful component to our staff and we all love them.
